DALLAS -- As part of many local events planned to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, veteran television journalist Charlie Rose will interview Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and his sister, Rory Kennedy, two children of the late U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, at  the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, on January 11, 2013.

Over the next year, increased media attention will revolve around the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The Center’s program, sponsored by ViewPoint Bank, will be among the first.

The Center felt Mr. Rose’s legendary interviewing skills would make for a fascinating evening and set the right tone going forward.  Robert Jr. is an author and environmental attorney. Rory is a filmmaker and recently premiered the HBO documentary Ethel, about her mother Ethel Kennedy.

“The Kennedy family has shaped our nation,” said Douglas T. Curtis, president and acting CEO of the nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center. “We felt this was an appropriate and constructive way to honor President Kennedy and his family and be respectful to the sensitive nature of this painful chapter in our city’s history.”

Mr. Rose will utilize his familiar format by interviewing the guests at a simple, round oak table with a black backdrop on the Shannon and Ted Skokos Stage at the Winspear Opera House. The discussion will examine the family’s influence on politics, culture and history from Mr. and Ms. Kennedy’s unique perspective.

Charlie Rose Live will begin at 8:00 pm. Tickets go on sale next week at www.attpac.org. Ticket prices will range from $25 to $150.
