AUSTIN -- Life just got easier for drivers needing temporary permits from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) for private and commercial vehicles. Texans can now select, pay for and self-issue these permits from the convenience of their computer, tablet or smartphone around the clock.
Previously customers had to obtain temporary permits in person at their county tax office, TxDMV regional service center or through a third party service provider. Now the permits are available online 24-hours a day.
“We want to give our customers access to TxDMV services when they want them, where they want them and how they want them,” said Executive Director Whitney Brewster. “By continuing to automate our services, we can save you time and help keep motor vehicles and commercial carriers moving.”
Customers who misplace a temporary permit also no longer need to make a trip to the TxDMV or county tax office. Now you can print a replacement copy directly from the online system.
