The following is a statement by Ben Monterroso, executive director of Mi Familia Vota:
“For a year, more than 5 million immigrants, including U.S. citizen children of DAPA-eligible parents, have been denied relief from deportations that was promised in President Obama’s immigration initiatives.
“The Texas lawsuit is mean-spirited, immoral and without merit. Finally, the fight for justice has reached the Supreme Court.
“We applaud the court’s decision to hear the case and we hope it fully considers the sound legal reasoning behind the president’s administrative relief.
“Meanwhile, as we wait for the court to hear the case, Mi Familia Vota will continue fighting for broader immigration reforms, in our communities and at the ballot box in November. Through our votes, our voices for dignity and respect will be heard.”
