FRISCO -- FC Dallas begins preparations for the 2013 Major League Soccer season next week as players report for physicals on Sunday, Jan. 20. The first training session of 2013 will be on Monday, Jan. 21, at the FC Dallas Stadium complex.
On Feb. 5, the Dallas side will travel to Cancún, México, for a week of training, returning on Feb. 11. While in Mexico, FC Dallas will face Mérida CF at 4:30 p.m., CT on Wednesday, Feb. 6, and Atlante CF at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7. A third match with Inter Playa del Carmen is planned for Monday, Feb. 11, but the time has yet to be determined.
Following a brief return to Texas, FC Dallas will head West on Feb. 15 for the second annual Portland Timbers preseason tournament. Swedish first-division side AIK and the San Jose Earthquakes are also scheduled to participate in the friendly competition.
FC Dallas will open the round-robin tournament with AIK at 4:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 17. The Dallas side will then face host Portland at 9:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 20, before closing out the tournament with San Jose at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 23. The team will return to Texas on Feb. 24 to head into the final week of preparation for the 2013 season opener when the side hosts Colorado at FC Dallas Stadium on Saturday, March 2.
FC Dallas will host Friends and Family night on Jan. 25 for a first look at the 2013 team as the evening training session will be open to the public. There will be stadium tours and special ticket discounts available on site during the event, as well as discounted concessions.
