Online options make it easy to keep traffic tickets off your insurance record in Dallas
DALLAS -- The City of Dallas wants to take some of the sting out of getting a traffic ticket.
“No one likes getting a ticket and then seeing their insurance premium go up,” said Court and Detention Services Director Gloria Lopez Carter. “So, we’ve made it easier for people to apply for Defensive Driving or Deferred Disposition by going online from the comfort of their own home (or Smartphone). If approved by a judge and successfully completed, this will keep the violation off their record and won’t affect their insurance.”
Citizens have 21 days to resolve their citation before facing additional late fees or warrants. Over the past eight months, the City has issued 126,797 warrants and cleared more than 57,000. “By adding online features that make it easier for people to pay their fine, we’re confident that compliance rates will increase and fewer warrants will need to be issued” Lopez Carter said.
