Dallas Public Library honors 65 student poets and artists

Dallas -- The Dallas Public Library announced the winners of the 19th annual Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition and Cover Art Contest.

All 62 poetry finalists were invited to read their poems and receive their awards during an April 25 ceremony at the Central Library, 1515 Young St. The five cover art finalists had their work on display, and finalists’ poems are published in an anthology with the winning art on the cover.

Selected finalists also had their poems read aloud during the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas spring concert, titled The Poet Sings, on April 26 at the Meyerson Symphony Center. The poets were recognized at the opening of the concert and listed in the program.

The 20th Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition and Cover Art Contest will run Sept. 20, 2015 to Jan. 31, 2016. Students in grades 2-12 who live in the City of Dallas or attend school in Dallas are eligible to submit their original poetry and/or artwork to the competition.
